We were delighted to welcome back two teams of volunteers from Fujitsu this September to assist us with our project, and they certainly brought the weather with them – their 2 days of volunteering coinciding with two beautiful, warm autumn days which we hope made the whole experience even more enjoyable, it certainly seemed to inspire them to help even more, achieving a lot for the project.
The CMT and MAC teams were divided up into two groups and volunteered over two days, this got two teams that wouldn’t normally work together the opportunity to do so, building new relationships between the two Fujitsu sectors. It also gave the teams a chance to communicate with volunteers who regularly work at our Roebuck site, and learn more about the project and what it means to the volunteers involved.
Parts of the teams were taught useful skills such as how to correctly re-pot and plant flowers ready to sell, while others within the teams were assisting with unloading and moving donated building materials.
An area of donated pots were sorted, crates and slabs were moved and stacked tidily. The boys in the group also enjoyed starting up a bonfire to dispose of the waste.
The Fujitsu team achieved so much, and while ensuring they were kept well-fed and refreshed was the least we could do we also hope that they both benefited and enjoyed helping out with our cause as much as we enjoyed having them on site.
We hope to see you all again next year – if not before!
