It’s been a good week for building at the Roebuck. It’s not just plants that we rescue at Waste Not Want Not but also wood. We build all our plant tables and greenhouse tables on site with wood that has been donated to us or we have rescued from buildings such as the Quality Clock Hotel which was demolished several years ago. We have built some 150 plants tables in the last 2 years and are having a real push  to build extra tables this spring for our new ‘Plant Hospital’ area where we can look after some of the very poorly plants enabling us to stick to our motto – ‘Leave No Plant Behind’.

We are also proud to announce that since the arrival of new volunteer,  James we will now be growing vegetables. James comes to the project with plenty of allotment experience and has been making raised vegetable beds from old scaffolding boards which were donated to the project last year.

Many thanks to both Melake and James for their industrious work this week. Waste Not Want Not are privileged to have both these hard working young men as part of our volunteer team.

Bring on the seeds and the parsnips!
